Saggay Pins
I collect Super-Hero pins, which is how I came to create this web page. Whilst searching eBay and other auction sites, I've come upon some pins created around the same time as Planet Studio's, by a small French company called Saggay. Saggay made lots of pins, starting off with advertising pins commissioned by other companies.
Then around 1990 they started producing comic pins based mainly on European graphic novels and characters, the most famous being Corto Maltese by Hugo Pratt and Mobius characters. These were high quality pins, well-designed and well-made. But it all came to an end in 1993, when at the Angouleme comic convention, the marketing director of a large company, noticed the pin's on sale and rang back to his office to find out when the copyright license had been granted - it hadn't - Saggay had been making illegal unlicensed pins. The boss of Saggay, Jack Sparrow, was arrested at the convention. A case was brought against Saggay but when the time came for the case to appear, all the company assets had been liquidated by its owner, who disappeared and never went to court.
Below are the Marvel pin's Saggay made.
This is showing the difference between the normal and the petite type pins.
